When hearing the name Hahnhof, many of you will reminisce. Whether it was in Hamburg, Berlin, Mannheim or elsewhere: rustic coziness was and will be welcoming you.
We used to be free tenants, but we took over the Hahnhof and all of its facilities in 1988. There are still warm rays of lights shining out on the street through plumb-framed windows. An old harrow decorates the ceiling, a nostalgic wine pannier graces the restaurant. Keeping in mind the Alsatian stone-made plates and Palatian watercolours showing winegrower’s scenery.
Only the lovingly decorated tables with white linen napkins give a hint that the former wine tavern has developed into a first-class restaurant. Everything that is served has been, and is still, homemade. The chef of the house will counsel you personally and competently. A rich diversity of international dishes is waiting for you.
Despite our international experience we still count on classic-conservative cooking. Our “saumagen” is served with fried potatoes and sauerkraut, not with truffles. Fresh sheatfish, caught from the own basin on demand, is cooked in a root vegetable stock and is served with melted butter, horseradish and parsley potatoes.
The moray from Lake Constance, fried in butter or steamed, in a dill-riesling gravy is a first class lusciousness.
In season we offer the lovers of game a rich selection. From suckling boar over deer medaillon to pheasant and partridge – everything from own hunt – served with cepes or chanterelles. Our hunters and gatherers from the nearby Odenwald guarantee best and fresh quality.
